China’s Overseas Patent Application Indicator
2016-04
This project provides an overview of China’s overseas patent application activities. Extending the work on the triadic patent family (i.e., USA-Europe-Japan) proposed by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) the project researches two new patent family indicators namely an alternative triadic patent family (i.e., China-USA-Europe) indicator and a quadric patent family (i.e., China-USA-Japan-Europe) indicator. By collecting and comparing the numbers of the three different patent families of the G20 Member Countries, the project analyzes China’s position in the world measured by each indicator. The project also studies the feasibility of using patent family indicators to evaluate innovation performance of a province (or region).
