On February 4^th 2016 Prof. Greidanus gave a presentation to the Probus Association in Helmond, the Netherlands. The topic of the presentation was: “Philips in China”. In the presentation Prof. Greidanus sketched the historical development of Philips in China starting from 1912 when the first Philips’ sales representative visited China. Already before the second world war Philips became an important player in China with a focus on the Lighting business.  In the mid 80-ies Philips would return to China and open an audio-video factory in Beijing, soon to be followed by other industrial activities in Shanghai, Nanjing and Suzhou. The establishment of a Central Research Laboratory and several other R&D centers in Shanghai and Suzhou demonstrates the innovative power of Philips in China.
