On the June 8-9th, the First China IP Policy and Management Development Forum (i.e., the Third IP Management Forum of Chengdu University of Electronic Science and Technology) was held in Chengdu. Nearly 300 IP experts, including scholars from Chinese Academy of Sciences, Zhejiang University, Dalian University of Technology, Xiamen University and other universities and scientific research institutions, managers from State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO), Huawei, and other government agencies and enterprises, have come together to discuss the IP policies and management practices in China.
In this forum, 61 scholars presented their research papers. The research topics included IP policy and international rules making, technological innovation, industrial change, IP value assessment, IP protection, patent examination, IP right system and practice. IIPM post-doc researcher, Dr. Xia Liu, presented her paper co-written with Prof. Can Huang "Misclassification of Patent Examination Decision and Determinants Analysis---take G-class patents for example". After a strict review procedure, this paper has received the Best Paper Award.

In addition, the forum organized roundtable discussions on two specific topics - "Transition of IP system: policy and management" and "IP research and publication". Professor Can Huang spoke in the roundtable session and provided his opinion on the quality of Chinese patents, patent transaction, and related policies.
