A meeting of stakeholders from the Institute for Intellectual Property Management

On April 8th, 2019, the Institute for Intellectual Property Management, School of Management, Zhejiang University (hereafter referred to as “the institute”) held a stakeholders meeting in Hangzhou. Dr. Yu Cao, Vice President of Zhejiang Intellectual Property Exchange Center, Prof. Guobin Cui, Associate Dean, School of Law, Tsinghua University, Prof. Bowman Heiden, Co-Director, Center for Intellectual Property, Chalmers University of Technology and University of Gothenburg, Ms. Bo Li, IP Manager at Dahua Technology, Mr. Xiaoyu Peng, General Manager of Dahua Technology’s Legal Affairs Department, Ms. Jing Li, Patent Manager, Hikvision, Mr. Ximing Zhang, Director of IP and Standards Department at Hikvision, Mr. Xiaoming Qi, Chief Technology Officer at Opple, Mr. Yanhua Yu, General Counsel of the Legal Deparment at Opple, Mr. Ruud Peters, CEO, Peter IP Consultancy and Chairman of the Advisory Board, Dr. Bart van Hezewijk, Officer for Science and Technology at the Ductch Consulate in Shanghai, Prof. Xiaobo Wu, former Dean of School of Management and Director of National Institute for Innovation Management, Zhejiang University, Prof. Suli Zheng, Associate Dean of School of Economics and Management, China Jiliang University and Research Fellow at the institute, and Prof. Frans Greidanus and Prof. Can Huang, Co-Directors of Institute for IP Management at the School of Management and other invited researchers attended the stakeholder meeting.

The meeting was chaired by Ruud Peters, the Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Institute. At the meeting, participants discussed four presentations, including "Current and Future Development of the Institute for Intellectual Property Management", "Technological Diversification and Firm Performance", "Patent Value Evaluation through a Machine Learning Approach", and "Does Technology Transfer Office Facilitate University Technology Transfer? Empirical Research on University Patent Sales Data".

Mr. Ruud Peters started the meeting by introducing the participants. Prof. Xiaobo Wu gave a welcome speech stressing the importance of the institute’s ongoing research, considering the increasing attention that the intellectual property related issues have received during the past years. Prof. Frans Greidanus, Ms. Ge Xu, Prof. Huang Can, and Prof. Suli Zheng gave presentations, which were followed by discussions with the participants. The participants suggested the institute to explore new research directions, continue collaboration with industry partners and further collaborate with other universities and research institutions.
