A delegation led by Mr. Daren Tang, Chief Executive of the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS) visited Zhejiang University. Mr. Yuan Zhu, Senior Associate Dean and Prof. Weihua Zhou, Associate Dean of the School of Management of Zhejiang University warmly welcomed the guests. The delegation from Singapore also consisted of Mr. Kitt-Wai Kok, Executive Director at IP Academy, Mr. Jack Cheng, Principal Assistant Director and head of China market, Mr. Felix Lim, Assistant Director at IP Academy, Mr. Wilson Tan, Assistant Directors at IP Academy and Mrs. Jassmine Lam Hui Ting, Senior Executive in the Strategic Planning and Policy Department at the IPOS.
The signing ceremony was hosted by Prof. Weihua Zhou. First of all, Prof. Weihua Zhou introduced the representatives from both sides. Then, Prof. Can Huang, Co-Director of The Institute for Intellectual Property Management (IIPM) of the School of Management of Zhejiang University, introduced the past cooperation between the two parties. Subsequently, Mr. Yuan Zhu and Mr. Daren Tang delivered speeches respectively. After the speeches, Mr. Yuan Zhu and Mr. Kitt-Wai Kok signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the IP Academy and School of Management of Zhejiang University.

The memorandum formally established the collaboration between the two parties in various fields. In terms of promoting Intellectual Property, both sides agreed to jointly organize related activities to raise public awareness of intellectual property rights. These activities will include activities with themes related to IP, seminars and regular seminars, industry training and corresponding courses for the public. In terms of training and development of professional competence, both sides will exchange information on topics of common interest, experiences and educational materials, organize exchange programs for Chinese and Singaporean enterprises, and conduct joint research on the intellectual property institution in ASEAN countries. Under the framework of the “Belt and Road” Initiative, they will also provide IP-related consulting services for Chinese companies aiming at expanding their business in ASEAN countries.
The signing ceremony was a complete success. Through this collaboration, the two sides will enhance mutual understanding, promote the close ties under the framework of the “Belt and Road” Initiative and China-ASEAN cooperation, expand cooperation in various fields of intellectual property, and provide services for stakeholders of IP in both countries.
