On December 17th, 2024, Professor Can Huang attended the AACA Conference and the IP Eagle Award Ceremony in Guangzhou, where he spoke on leveraging AI innovation to enhance intellectual property protection at the forum titled "Innovative Applications of AI Technology and Intellectual Property Protection."
The AACA Conference and the IP Eagle Award Ceremony focused on the theme "Creating New Practices for Intellectual Property Protection and Promoting the Development of New Quality Productive Forces," with in-depth discussions and sharing of best practices in collaborative governance for intellectual property protection. Over 400 participants attended, including Tao Tian Group Vice President Ye Zhifei, Guangzhou Market Supervision Administration leader Yi Zhaohui and association representatives, experts, scholars, university students, and AACA members.
Professor Can Huang Shares Insights on "AI Empowerment for Intellectual Property Protection"
At the forum, Professor Can Huang elaborated on the relationship between AI technology and new quality productive forces, as well as the practical path of e-commerce platforms in achieving intellectual property governance through technological empowerment. First, Professor Can Huang pointed out that new quality productive forces is an advanced form of productivity dominated by innovation, focused on quality, and essentially representing advanced productivity. As a leading-edge technology, AI exemplifies innovation, quality, and advancement. Second, in the realm of intellectual property governance for Internet platforms in China, companies like Alibaba have taken the lead. Their intellectual property protection systems are rich in application and actively innovative. Professor Can Huang emphasized that platform enterprises should explore institutional innovations to create replicable social norms. Furthermore, Professor Can Huang’s research on Alibaba's intellectual property protection system identified three key elements: institutional innovation, technological empowerment, and multi-party co-governance. These elements work together to promote efficient intellectual property protection. Lastly, intellectual property is an interdisciplinary field involving law, economics, management, and other disciplines. For critical issues such as AI innovation and intellectual property protection, collaboration among enterprises, universities, and research institutions is essential. Experts from diverse backgrounds, including legal scholars and economic and management experts, should come together to achieve comprehensive and in-depth exchanges and cooperation.
