China’s Overseas Patent Application Indicator
This project provides an overview of China’s overseas patent application activities. Extending the work on the triadic patent family (i.e., USA-Europe-Japan) proposed by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) the project researches two new patent family indicators namely an alternative triadic patent family (i.e., China-USA-Europe) indicator and a quadric patent family (i.e., China-USA-Japan-Europe) indicator.

This project researches the saturation of patents and its relationship with industry and technology development. It aims to propose an optimal patent saturation threshold to guide industrial development and the development of a patent system itself.

Yet the development of a patent market in China is still lagging behind compared to other advanced countries in the world.
